Once again it has been a bizzilion years since I last posted anything
on here. Perhaps I'm not meant to blog? But I had a lecture a couple of
weeks ago that said blogging was a good way of showing an interest in
writing and that I have, so I will battle on, despite the fact that only
my mum is going to read this, because any followers I might have had
have left me due to inactivity...
Anyway, to the point of this post (of which there is none - DISCLAIMER).
Things
are getting mighty hectic for me. I'm in my second year at uni and I'm
currently having to think about choosing modules for my final year,
choosing a lab project for this year and finding somewhere to live next
year as my student accommodation heartlessly disregards third years. All
fairly bog standard first world, student struggles...
On
another note, I've given up coffee for lent! It's not for any reason in
particular, other than to see if I can do it. So far I'm doing pretty
well, I feel, considering I'm somewhat of a coffee fiend!
I've also been reading The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, which is really good by the way, I highly recommend it.
Anyway that's just about my life at the moment, oh so exciting and blog worthy I know =)
I
also haven't done any art in aaages, which is just not acceptable, so I
will spending this weekend with a sketchbook and that is
non-negotiable!

Papping The Wildlife
I was taking down the washing a couple of days ago when i came across this guy.
I couldn't pass the opportunity to do a little papping =D I even moved the peg and he stuck around, enjoying the attention I think.
I also came across some caterpillars last week and managed to get a couple of photos of the handsome devils.
If you want to see more of my photography then you can check me out on deviantart Neon-Tiger-7. Or you can take a look at my art blog Neon Doodles
Anyway I hope everyone's enjoying the last few weeks of summer or the first weeks of autumn, depending on how you look at it =D

I Suck At Blogging
Well this is a ridiculously belated post. It seems i'm not very good at keeping a blog, but I'll try to be better =)
While a lot has happened since my last post (almost a year ago =/ ) I'm going to try and keep this one brief.
So I'm in the middle of my summer holidays, having just finished my first year at uni. Fortunately I passed my exams (woo!) so I'll be going back in September =) But what i really want to talk about is how much I've been getting back into my art recently. Ironic really considering I'm in the middle of a science degree =D
I've been focusing a lot on watercolours, despite the fact i spent most of my A levels trying to avoid them at all costs =P I've also been using felt pens, particularly whilst i was at uni (limited resources).
And when it's a nice day, there's nothing I like more than to grab my camera and take a ridiculously large number of photos =P

Uni & Life Drawing
So it's been quite a while since my last post and a lot has happened!
I suppose the biggest thing is that I started university. Yep, I'm now in my third week of lectures and it's going really well. Of course there were a few teething problems at first, what with being so far from home and family as well as having to fend for myself. Fortunately and to my own surprise, I haven't yet poisoned myself and I've become acquainted with the oven as well as the microwave. So I'm settling quite well, not that I don't look forward to my fortnightly visits back home and dropping off my laundry!
University life for me has been incredibly busy so far, with an average day of 9-5 lectures and assignments in both the first and second week! But I'm really enjoying the course and I've had the opportunity to branch out a little when it comes to extra curriculum. I've joined a life drawing class, which may have been slightly terrifying first time, but was certainly worth while. It's nice to have an outlet for my creativity and the chance to meet some new people.
My first life drawing class was particularly interesting - not just because I really had no idea where I was going when I got on the train at 6 o'clock to get to the student union. I arrived a little late and not wanting to disturb the rest of the group I took the nearest seat. This just happened to be directly in front of he model and I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous about the fact that the model was a he.
I have done life drawing before, but only once and only with a female model. So the trepidation beforehand could not be helped. However, as soon as you sit down, you instantly realise that this is just art. There's no awkwardness, because everyone is here to draw and it doesn't matter who or what the subject may be. If anyone has ever thought about trying life drawing, but decide against it for whatever reason - I can promise you it is definitely worthwhile and nowhere near as weird as you may think!
Unfortunately i haven't joined any sports societies, which I'm lead to believe is an almost integral part of uni life, but to be honest I suck at pretty much all physical excursion, so I see that as no real loss to the various sports teams! I have, however, joined the zoological society, which has been somewhat dormant since I signed myself over along with twenty pounds...
...I really can't think of anything else to say, so I'm going to leave it there - realising that I haven't said anything of any importance anyway!
More whispers to follow soon...

Revelations
Okay, mini little Whisper for today...
Everything feels mildly surreal. One of the girls I am to be sharing a flat with during my first year of uni has already moved in and it has had a very bizarre effect on me. I wouldn't say I feel scared, but certainly it is starting to hit me just how much I will need to evolve in the next few weeks. Not only will I be starting a new, and very important, portion of my education, but I'll also be expect to cook for myself!
This little revelation while eating my Mother's expertly prepared sausage casserole has spurred me to try and transform my fairly pathetic culinary skill. So I think I shall face the move head on, armed with the several cook books I received for my birthday (I'm starting to think others had little faith in me) =P

Furry Friends
Despite having come from a long line of fervent bloggers, this will be my first venture into blogging. It's taken me so long simply because I had nothing interesting enough to write about, but it is now only a week away from my first day at university and the prospect of leaving home has given me some material to work with.
I think what's important to know is that I am part of a fairly tight-knit family that I have always been extremely attached to. So the idea of leaving them behind is somewhat daunting. Fortunately I will be coming back to visit regularly and I'm sure that they will be taking full advantage of my conveniently located student accommodation in London!
So although I'm extremely excited about starting a course I'm truly interested in, I am definitely going to miss my family as well as my furry friends...
And some not so furry ones...
